CMS student assignment proposal: No changes to HFES attendance zone

On April 25, CMS superintendent Ann Clark unveiled a new student assignment plan, which, if approved by the school board at its May 24 meeting, would take effect starting with the 2018-19 school year.

No changes were proposed for the Huntingtowne Farms Elementary attendance zone, and our neighborhood’s assignment to Carmel Middle and South Mecklenburg High also remain the same.

The only change related to our school was that in the new plan, the entire HFES population would attend Carmel and South Meck. This would allow all students zoned for HFES to stay together throughout middle and high school. (Currently, some students in the HFES attendance zone are assigned to Sedgefield Middle and Harding High.)
