Our neighborhood’s annual 4th of July parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Ramblewood end of Huntingtowne Farms Park. We’ll walk through the neighborhood to the other end of the park near the pool. Sunset slush treats for all HFNA members after the parade!
HF residents! Join us on Tuesday, July 3, for a pre-holiday block party! There’ll be music, a food truck, and all your neighborhood friends. Find us on Burnt Mill between Goneaway and Northampton starting at 5 p.m.

Thanks to all who came to the Huntingtowne Farms Neighborhood Association meeting on April 30. In case you couldn’t make it, here are some highlights:
Greenway update. Gwen Cook, director of Greenway Planning and Development Services, announced that the grand opening of the Tyvola–HF Park greenway section will be Saturday, June 23rd, at 10 a.m. She also said that the greenway in HF park will be widened to 12 feet, and that our playground will be rebuilt (on the same spot as before) in late summer or early fall after construction vehicles no longer need access to that area. A small pavilion will be built next to the playground. The section of the greenway from HF Park to I-485 is expected to be complete by the summer of 2019.
Drainage improvement project. Brian Sikes, a project manager with Mecklenburg County, said that the Lilly Mill Drainage Improvement Project will begin construction this September, and that the project will take up to two years to complete.
County commission. HF resident and Mecklenburg County Commissioner Matthew Ridenhour spoke about some current issues, including the 2019 property revaluation and the possibility of universal pre-k for all 4-year-olds. He reminded attendees that issues the county commission deals with include schools, parks, libraries, social services, and the health department. Landscaping. Mark Thornberry has agreed to serve as vice president of HFNA and will take on planning and maintenance for our entrances. Repairs to the lighting and sprinkler system will be needed this year.
Neighborhood directory. Planned for this summer after HFNA’s main membership drive ends. Section leaders may call on new neighbors to welcome them, inform them about HFNA, and encourage them to join the association.
Finances. John Sechrist has agreed to serve as HFNA treasurer. The HFNA board voted to increase the annual dues to $55 because our expenses exceeded our income last year. The board would like to get 200 paid members (households) this year. (The neighborhood has about 400 homes.)
New president. Kim Riddle has agreed to serve as the next HFNA president! She will start in August.
Construction on the Lilly Mill drainage project will begin in September 2019, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services. The project is estimated to take up to two years. Brian Sikes, a project manager with the county, says that residents will maintain access to their homes, even if streets need to be blocked during construction.

The newest section of the Little Sugar Creek Greenway will be celebrated with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, June 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Your $55 annual dues pay for entrance maintenance and future renovations (including monthly electric and water bills), neighborhood events, the HFNA website, email software, and other miscellaneous items that make our neighborhood one of the best in Charlotte!
A heads-up for HF residents: Mecklenburg County appraisal staff have been seen in our neighborhood examining home exteriors to gather information for next year’s property revaluation.
According to the county website, appraisers will always be driving a marked county vehicle and will NOT ask to come inside your home without an appointment.
